The Jackson Transit Authority has moved into it’s new facility located at 38 Eutah Street. This is on the Bemis bus route, across S. Highland from the Post Office and next to the Criminal Justice Complex.
JTA’s 2011 Bus Road-eo winners are: Mr. Joe Coleman is the first place winner for the Operations department, Mr. Willie Marrow is second place winner for the Operations department, Mr. Leonard Ellison is the first place winner for the Maintenance department.
Mr. Coleman and Mr. Marrow will represent JTA in the State Bus Road-eo to be held in Knoxville on October 5th. Congratulations Gentlemen and thank you for representing JTA at the State competition!
The Jackson Transit Authority (JTA) is pleased to announce Mr. Steve Deatherage as JTA’s Maintenance Employee of the Year and Mr. Michael Whiteford as JTA’s Operations Employee of the Year. Mr. Deatherage and Mr. Whiteford were awarded this honor at JTA’s annual Employee Dinner, December 11, 2011.
Mr. Deatherage was awarded this honor because of his dedication to maintaining our bus fleet, his attendance and attitude, and his willingness to get the job done. Mr.Deatherage has been employed with JTA as a Mechanic since 03/28/2005.
Mr.Whitefordwas awarded this honor for his dedication to serving the riding public, attendance and attitude, and his willingness to get the job done. Mr.Whiteford has been employed with JTA since 01/26/2009 as a Bus Operator.

Last minute Holiday shopping? GO JTA!
Running low on cash? GO JTA!
Going shopping will look very appealing before Christmas if you ride any of JTA’s buses. Fares will be slashed on December 22 & 24. JTA regular bus fares will be 25 cents and THE LIFT bus fares will be 50 cents. There will be no policy changes except the regular fares will be reduced. No transfers will be given when using the reduced fare. All normal reduced fares are available if applicable. For route and schedule information call JTA at 423-0200 extension 0, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, weekdays.
JTA’s Annual Food Drive will be Tuesday and Wednesday, November 7 & 8, on all JTA buses to help the Second Harvest Food Bank make sure everyone has a bountiful holiday this year. JTA riders ‘can’ donate a canned food and receive a free ride at the time of the donation. JTA riders ‘can’ do this as often as they would like. No policy changes will be made for this event except the exchange of canned foods for fares. Regular and discount fares are accepted, if applicable, and transfers are free. JTA has free Trick or Treat bags for children to help them ‘shine’ this Halloween. The shiny silver bags are reflective to help motorists see the children. The bags have a ghost and a black cat hiding in a pumpkin. The safety tips which are printed on the bags are Never go out alone, Stay in well-lighted areas, Go only to houses you know, Have your parents check our treats. The Treat bags will be given out on all JTA buses October 29, 30 and 31, while supplies last.
